About the Author

Bob Bennett is the former head baseball coach at Fresno State University and one of the winningest Division I coaches of all time. His career record of 1302-759-4 ranks seventh on the NCAA Division I all-time victory list.
During 34 seasons (1970-2002, plus a year as FSU s interim head coach in 1967), at Fresno State, Bennett led his teams to 1302 victories (an average of 40 wins per season), and made two trips to the College World Series. He also served as head coach of the U.S. National Team in 1983 and 1986 and served on the national team s coaching staff in 1977 and 1979.
Bennett was named Conference Coach of the Year 14 times and NCAA Coach of the Year in 1988. He also received the Lefty Gomez Award for his lifetime contribution to baseball.
Bennett was inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1992.
