Synopsis
In Assurance of Salvation, Matthew C. Hoskinson traces the New Testament doctrine of hope and its implications for an age-old debate: how believers may be sure of their salvation. After delineating major orthodox views of assurance, Hoskinson measures today's evangelical positions against references to hope in each part of the New Testament. Along the way, he addresses topics such as Reformed and Wesleyan theology, the Second Coming of Christ, and whether assurance is necessary for salvation. Matthew C. Hoskinson (PhD, Bob Jones University) is Pastor of Ministry Vision at Heritage Bible Church in Greer, South Carolina. Assurance of Salvation is the published version of his dissertation, The Full Assurance of Hope: An Analysis of Contemporary Opinions on Assurance of Salvation in Light of a Theology of Hope in the New Testament (2005).
