The Changing Faces of Afghanistan tells a story of hope, courage and perseverance of Afghan children striving for peace, education and a better life for their families and loved ones. This beautiful, 16-month (Sep 2008 - Dec 2009) calendar features full-color photos of Afghan children accompanied by inspirational quotations. The calendar also has a brief overview of Afghanistan and Ghazni province, the country's second largest and one of the most impoverished. The calendar contains US, Christian, Jewish and Muslim holidays. The calendar was compiled and published by volunteers of Afghan Friends Network, a San Francisco-based, registered 501c(3) nonprofit organization. The proceeds of the calendar support the work of Afghan Friends Network, which includes educational & training programs in Ghazni province, such as women's literacy classes, girls education and teacher training. These wonderful and thought-provoking photos show a unique perspective rarely seen outside the Central Asian region. They were taken by volunteers who traveled throughout Kabul and Ghazni over the last 2 years. Michael Tomberlin, John Bortner, Humaira Ghilzai, Elsie DeLaere, Fatema Mushtaqe, and Dawn Ericson generously donated their time and photos to help raise awareness for the plight of Afghan children. The people shown in this calendar represent the future of Afghanistan. They want peace, friendship and a better life. You can help them achieve this hope through your purchase of this calendar and support of Afghan Friends Network.
