About the Author:

Christopher Lynch has spent most of his life around Chicago's Midway Airport, where his family ran Monarch Air Service, a fixed-based operator that serviced aircraft for more than six decades. Founded by his grandfather, pioneering pilot Pierce "Scotty" O'Carroll, it was one of the oldest continuously operating family aviation businesses in the country when it was sold in 1997. A graduate of Lawrence University with a BA in history and religious studies, Chris also has a private pilot's license. He is the author of Chicago's Midway Airport: The First Seventy-five Years, which was published in 2002 by Lake Claremont Press. His website is midwayhistory.com.

Review:

"Chicago author Christopher Lynch has spotlighted the nexus between the early years of commercial aviation and the shining stars of the silver screen and American politics in his new book, 'When Hollywood Landed at Chicago's Midway Airport: The Photos and Stories of Mike Rotunno.'" --Chicago Tribune

"Written by a fellow named Christopher Lynch, who grew up around Midway, it is a thin, paperbound volume that appears to be a labor of love and respect. It tells the story of one Mike Rotunno, a photographer-for-hire in the first boom years of commercial air travel in the United States....Lynch's book is filled with Rotunno's old photos." --Bob Greene, CNN.com
