The book walks students through a five-step process for researching and writing scholarly papers and follows five published student papers from idea to final execution as a method of illustrating the principles advocated in the text. Jessica Clark is Associate Director of the Legal Research and Writing Program, Co-Director of the Scholarly Writing Program, and an Associate Professor of Legal Research and Writing at the George Washington University Law School. Kristen Murray is an Associate Professor of Law at Temple University Beasley School of Law.
