9781616405601: Pushing to the Front (Two Volumes in One)

Orison Swett Marden's Pushing to the Front is a classic of the literature of personal motivation that remains startling relevant today. A phenomenal bestseller when it was first published in 1894, it was greatly expanded by popular demand to two volumes in 1911. Marden explores a wide range of issues that hold us back from success in all areas of our lives. Presented here as one combined volume, Marden discusses: • Choosing a vocation • Success under difficulties • The habit of happiness • The power of suggestion • Why some succeed and others fail • And much more... "Nearly all great men, those who have towered high above their fellows, have been remarkable above all things else for their energy of will," Marden notes... and shows us how to cultivate our energy of will, too. American writer and editor ORISON SWETT MARDEN (1850-1924) was born in New England and studied at Boston University and Andover Theological Seminary. In 1897, he founded Success Magazine.

About the Author:

Orison Swett Marden (1850-1924) is the founder of Success Magazine and is considered by many to be the founder of the modern success and positive thinking movement. He changed the old notions of success with the new more comprehensive ideas made popular by best-selling authors such as Napoleon Hill, Clement Stone, Dale Carnegie, Og Mandino, Earl Nightingale, Norman Vincent Peale, and many others. Some famous Quotes from Orison Swett Marden: A constant struggle, a ceaseless battle to bring success from inhospitable surroundings, is the price of all great achievements. A good system shortens the road to the goal. A strong, successful man is not the victim of his environment. He creates favorable conditions. His own inherent force and energy compel things to turn out as he desires. A will finds a way. Achievement is not always success, while reputed failure often is. It is honest endeavor, persistent effort to do the best possible under any and all circumstances. All men who have achieved great things have been great dreamers. All who have accomplished great things have had a great aim, have fixed their gaze on a goal which was high, one which sometimes seemed impossible. Analyzing what you haven't got as well as what you have is a necessary ingredient of a career. Be larger than your task.
