Corruption on Rikers Island at its worst! there was nobody doing it better than I did. Allow me to introduce myself from 1997-2006 my name was corrections officer Gary Heyward shield #1952. I worked on Rikers Island for nine years and due to a "cooperating" inmate I became...inmate 0604017. All the corrupt things that you heard or saw in the news about the notorious city jails are going on..and then some! Come with me as I take you on a journey like no other through my years of corruption which include my years of incarceration. In my tell all book I will show how I teamed up with various inmates to develop a system that allowed me to profit from selling drugs inside the jails. I also enjoyed the company of female corrections officers that were prostituting themselves inside the jails during work hours. In this cesspool you have your gun toting inmates along with your drug toting officers and anything is liable to happen. I speak about the cover-ups of inmate murders as well as the brutal beatings of jail justice administered at the hands of New York's boldest. The fact is that officers are getting money on the streets of Rikers Island and after reading the truth you will understand how normal people get these jobs and why they do what they do. They will never be able to stop a ....CORRUPTION OFFICER!

Review:

Excellent story. The humor, frankness, and candor with which the author details his journey from getting a C.O. gig to getting slapped with child support that took nearly his whole paycheck--an obstacle many men are faced with--to running an illegal big money making empire right inside Riker's Island jail to becoming an inmate at the jail to redemption is very inspiring. I applaud Gary Heyward for his courage and strength in sharing this story, a story that will help many people who face the same obstacles that Gary was once confronted with. Corruption Officer is one of those unputdownable stories. This book needs to be in every prison, group home, hood, and given to each person hired to work as a corrections officer. I loved this story! Can't wait to see the movie! ~~ Vanessa "Fluffy" Murray, author of Before Truth Set Me Free: Behind the Music to Behind Bars. --avid reader

Corruption Officer by Gary Heyward was one hell of a literary feast I never wanted to come to an end. From the first drama filled chapter, till the very gripping end, I sat on pins and needles to find out what happens next. In a eerie way, I wanted him to pay for his crime, but the author's plight, plea, and heartfelt redemption, pierced and permeated my soul with empathy, because he exposed it all with sheer honesty, brutal truth,to where he became my hero. Gary Heyward, I salute you, and eagerly anticipating your next masterpiece! --W.Riley
