Synopsis

Winner of the 2014 Ka Palapala Po'okela Excellence in Children's Literature Award presented by the Hawaii Book Publishers Association. As winner of the award, Kohola, King of the Whales represents the cream of the crop for the children's book industry.

In March of 2012, the author had an amazing encounter with Kohola and his mother and father off the coast of O'ahu. Well, maybe it wasn't Kohola, but it sure looked like him with slightly shorter fins. And who knows? Maybe that young whale will grow up to be the next King of the Whales. You will be as thrilled as Kekela when you turn the pages of this beautiful Hawaiian legend. Swim along with young Kohola as he explores the sunny waters of the Pacific Ocean and north to the dangerous seas of Canada and Alaska. See how he overcomes the rejection and loneliness of being a little different, and how he learns to use his special skills to help those around him. The story of Kohola offers a timeless lesson for young and old alike.
