Homeless by choice, but not his choice. When he was six, his family put him out of the house. Every tub on its own bottom, his grandfather said to him just a day after his fathers funeral. In his life story as told to Molly Wingate, Bill Hyer tells of his survival, his challenges, his triumphs, loves, and defeats. But it is more than a story of a bad childhood survived with grace, a successful business man who found the arts, or a sinner turned saint. These stories accumulate to reveal how humility invites the Divines hand to work in our lives. It is also about answering the call and trusting that all will be fulfilled in time. Bills life carries the message of faith and hope through his work and through his example. It is one hell of a story.

Preface by Bill Hyer I have story to tell; that I have been sure of for quite a while. This story shows that when parents deny their responsibilities to take care of their children, the result is a lot of pain and hardship. This story is what happens when children lose the guidance of their family. This story shows that a kid is a kid is a kid. I don't want to put anyone down, but I do want to be straight about what can happen to a kid.It also demonstrates that sometimes, no matter what, God wants a person to survive and prosper. I have been on my own since I was six-years old, taking care of my basic needs, my education, my everything. I should have died several times as a youngster, but I didn't. You'll hear about all that in the coming pages. At the age of 59, I was pronounced dead, but I returned to this life. I have been counting as my birthday that day.In this life, I am currently sixteen. Adding my two lives together, I am much older. The story of my coming of age has been a secret, so those who have known me as an adult are likely to wonder if I'm making it all up. The photos, research, and stories of names and places, I hope, calm their concerns. I am for real, this story is real, and it is a darn good one.
