Ya Wanna Laugh? is a collection of true stories that span my life. They are from letters that I kept as a diary to preserve humorous incidents for personal and family entertainment. One day in early 1994, I randomly picked up an anthology of humorous essays by a famous award-winning writer. The humor so impressed me that I did the unthinkable. I wrote him a note thanking him for his anthology. I felt indebted to him for the lift his book gave me, but I had nothing to offer this man in return except perhaps a reciprocal laugh. So at the last moment I enclosed a copy of my story, “The Council Meeting,” After that, I was immersed in work and thought no more about it. To my utter surprise, he wrote back and said words that are still engraved on my soul. He said, “You have talent for satire.” His stamp of approval gave value to my writing and is what ultimately led to the decision to publish my own book of humorous essays.
