Millions of Americans today are mired in unaffordable debt. While breaking the chains of debt may feel like an insurmountable problem, a debt-free life is not out of reach.
Jorge Newbery was once $26 million in debt. He needed a way out. When one of his creditors made a sloppy legal mistake, he battled them all the way to the Missouri Court of Appeals - and won. Newbery then applied what he learned to his other debts. One after another, his debts were either settled or gone forever.
Today, Newbery shares what he discovered with others crushed by unaffordable debts. He is the founder and CEO of American Homeowner Preservation and DebtCleanse.com, both dedicated to helping debtors escape from the financial nightmares he faced.
In Stories of the Indebted, Jorge recounts the heartbreaking financial tales of regular Americans struggling with unaffordable debt. Along the way, he imparts strategies, tools, and techniques to settle debts at big discounts and start a path towards debt-free living. Newbery shows how debtors can take control and regain the most important thing they've lost: hope.

About the Author:

Jorge P. Newbery is a successful entrepreneur, distressed debt and real estate investor, endurance athlete, and author. He turned around some of the country's must troubled housing complexes by amassing a portfolio of four thousand apartments across the United States from 1992 to 2005. Today, Newbery helps others crushed by unaffordable debts rebuild their lives. He is the founder and CEO of American Homeowner Preservation, a socially responsible debt buyer that purchases nonperforming mortgages from banks at big discounts and then shares the discounts with families. He also founded DebtCleanse.com, which helps debtors and creditors settle unaffordable debts at discounts.

Review:

  •     "It's time to shake up the way you think about debt. Read this America! Newbery is no stranger to debt. At its peak, he was $26 million in debt with no hope except to fight back. He tried several tactics which started to work and he successfully settled his debts for pennies on the dollar or wiped them out completely. Like a modern day Robin Hood, Jorge Newbery is now transferring his knowledge to the masses to get America out of debt." - Top Book Reviewers
  •     "The tales of financial ducking and diving are themselves intensely interesting. The reader will find complex financial issues rendered comprehensible (even for those not used to dealing with these types of problems), along with some truly affecting personal tales of debt and the damage it can do--excellent stuff." - IndieReader
  •     "The lives of too many Americans are absorbed by debt, becoming prisoners of a vicious cycle from which breaking free is difficult. Newbery offers an escape plan in the form of a book. With the help of his characters who seem as real as you and me, he shares their problems and solutions. The focus falls on how to rise once you have fallen and how to learn from your (and other people's) mistakes. Engaging." - Best Sellers World
  •     "There is no doubt that there are creditors out there who deserve a good kidney punch from a hard-working middle-class person who has always played by the rules and still wound up under the bus." - Manhattan Book Review
  •      "...the American financial system is stacked against borrowers. Luckily, he also learned ways that borrowers can use that system to their advantage to escape huge amounts of debt without bankrupting themselves or losing their homes: 'every debt has a unique set of circumstances,' Newbery explains, 'and creditors are constantly making errors. You just need to find the errors and exploit them.'...readers will be able to glean a great deal of helpful information from Newbery's experiences" - Kirkus
  •     "Over seven riveting chapters, Newbery introspectively explains once-complicated financial jargon in straightforward, adaptable language that transforms the entire field from something as complicated as programming a VCR to something as manageable as making toast. Pick up a copy of Stories of the Indebted and stop getting caught in the loopholes and technicalities that drain the savings accounts and dreams of so many hard workers. Become a Debt Threat today!"- Seattle Book Review
  •      The stories in Stories of the Indebted will resonate with millions of readers, and each of them has a powerful lesson that can change a debtor's life dramatically. Most people -- and I felt this very strongly -- will feel like the author is talking to their heart, like he knows their personal problem intimately and like he has just what they need to reclaim their financial freedom. - San Francisco Book Review
