Synopsis:
SHE WAS TRAPPED

Emotionally vulnerable, she was thrilled about this new marriage to Dick which she had long dreamed of...and in denial. While he was handsome, she considered herself ordinary and, at first, lucky. But Marcia soon found herself trapped in a damaging relationship with Dick, a sex addict and alcoholic. Her terrifying emotional prison walls kept her locked in a world of his malevolent lies, sexual trysts, menage a trois, voyeurism, infidelities and drug addiction.
SHE WAS DEFEATED

She desperately wanted him to change, and she believed he would for her, if only she loved and cared for him enough. But he continued his sick and dangerous escapades. Caught in a world of chaos and instability with seven geographical relocations in just a year and a half, she was at his mercy and financially broke. Emotionally vulnerable toward him and his many addictions, she was trapped in a world of total despair and isolation.

SHE WAS RESCUED

Fearful of her own violent thoughts, she turned to a young, kind and promising member of a motorcycle gang for help and began to feel courageous and hopeful though she never imagined the horror yet to come.

From the Author:

EXCERPT:
Marcia opened the trunk lid. Inside the trunk was a large paper grocery sack. It was not hers. She did not want to look inside the bag in front of a stranger. She would wait until she got to the grocery store.
Marcia paid for her services and left Firestone. Her mind was on the package in the trunk of the car. As soon as she found a packing place at the grocers, she immediately went to the back of the car, opened the trunk and unwrapped the paper sack. Inside she found binoculars and pornography video tapes. She could understand the videos if Dick was acting out, but what about the binoculars. Why did he need binoculars? She did not know. She returned the items to the sack, closed the top, and returned it to where she had found it. She was angry and said the resentment prayer to quiet her mental anguish.
Inside the grocery store, she ran into Lena. Marcia was almost in tears when she saw her coming down the aisle. She told Lena about the binoculars and tapes in the trunk of the car. "Why would Dick have binoculars?"
"Sounds like he is voyeuring," Lena said.
"What?"
"Peeping Tom."
"What? You have to be kidding," Marcia exclaimed."Is Dick gone from the house for long periods of time?"
"Almost always. He has a lot of sponsorees and they need privacy and I don't like leaving the house all of the time for their time alone, so he leaves the house instead with MY car."
"Dick could be using the binoculars for voyeurism. If he is he could be in YOUR car for three to four hours at a time, just to get one glimpse of nudity. What a waste of time!"
"What do I do with this information?"
"Nothing. You do nothing. You only have suspicions that Dick is acting out sexually again. Maybe he is not hurting anybody else right now, but he might in the future. We may need to do an intervention on him. You have to have hard facts. It cannot just be suspicions. He knows he is not to have sexual paraphernalia in his possession. He could be prosecuted in a court of law more severely than last time."
"What last time - you mean the phone call to the minor male?" Marcia asked.
"Remember - it was an enticement for sexual favors. One day he will repeat that behavior and will go to prison for actual sexual abuse to a minor male. You don't want that do you?"
"What am I to do?"
"Keep a journal. Write down what you know, when you discovered it. Write down when Dick is gone from the house. And make him get his own car. The police will be looking for your car soon. Gee, I don't know what else to suggest you do. You don't want to be blinded by his behaviors, yet there is not much you can prove. The phone numbers, the license plates, the condoms, and now the video tapes and the binoculars. It is all damning evidence all right."
"You know what I want to do." Marcia said. "I want to take all of these things. Place them in a safe deposit box out of his reach. I think if he knows that I know, he will either get angrier or he will feel ashamed and stop."
