Groundless Gods: The Theological Prospects of Post-Metaphysical Thought deals with possible interpretations of an emerging interest in contemporary theology: postmetaphysical theology. This book attempts to openly come to grips, not only with what metaphysics and postmetaphysics imply, but also with what it could mean to do or not do theology from the standpoint of the nonmetaphysician. The book asks, for instance, whether this world has any singular definition, and whether God is some being standing apart from the world or an experience within the world.

The book asks, for instance, whether this world has any singular definition, and whether God is some being standing apart from the world or an experience within the world. Von Sass and Hall have assembled a powerful group of established and emerging philosophical theologians from Europe and North America. This book boldly addresses a faith that is freed from its traditional man-behind-the-curtain metaphysics. As theology moves into a post-metaphysical age in order to account for twenty-first century religious praxis, this anthology leads the way. --Brad Elliott Stone, Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA The concept of an end of metaphysics belongs to the most influential as well as controversial ideas of twentieth-century philosophy, with repercussions in related fields such as theology. This timely and well-conceived volume offers essential guidance in current debates and their intellectual background. --Johannes Zachhuber, Trinity College, Oxford, UK Eric E.
