Women's fashion has evolved throughout the centuries from corsets, a lot of layers, and big hats to spandex, one layer and some type of head covering, whether it's a cap, hat or scarf. Jane Austen Regency Fashion Adult Colouring Book by Ceri Clark creates a way to embrace the Jane Austen era from 1811 to 1820. Jane Austen penned Pride and Prejudice and Sense and Sensibility, among other titles, which gave her great success as a published author. It was Austen's romantic novels that helped to characterize these fashions. In today's culture, adult coloring books are popular and many people have begun to adopt this trend by coloring as a way to relax. You will experience a variety of beautiful apparel that not only provides an education of sorts, but is a way to see how the women of the 19th century dressed. Ceri indicates that you can color the dresses and hats as you wish, but if you want to maintain the authenticity of the time, the colors for this era consisted of red, greens, yellows, blues, oranges, and browns, with gray and black used for those special occasions. Ceri also provides additional information on colors so that you can begin to better understand the fashions of the 19th century.

I have been coloring since I was a kid and have continued this tradition, which I have passed on to my daughter, who now as an adult uses coloring and her creative artistic prowess to create a relaxing, comforting and peaceful place for her to develop the balance that she needs for a tough day. Coloring can be rewarding and fun and looking at the fashion of this era, using colors and creating your own view of the apparel, makes it much more intriguing and engaging. It's almost like creating paper dolls or dressing your own Ken and Barbie dolls, but a little bit different. If you are looking to get creative, have fun and relax, this is a great coloring book to start with.
