9781682130513: Bridge of Comprehension

Amanda had loved Amir so much that she had forgotten all the many hours of argument that her father, Mahmoud, had engaged in with Amir before they were married, The Middle Eastern Problem was like a cloud that always hung over the family's smallish apartment. It never really went away. It never dispersed and allowed light in. It just hung there and cast a pall over everyone, *****Amir usually slept well, especially on days when he had moved around a lot. Tonight, though, would be almost completely restless. Six thousand miles away, despite cool winter temperatures, the Middle East was getting hot--again. Amir's beloved Israel was about to have its existence threatened for the umpteenth time as the horrible conflict in Syria threatened to spread into the Holy Land. *****I will NOT sit around and watch my people choking to death, crying to death, suffocating and breaking out into hives because of a Syrian projectile. I will NOT sit in the comfort of this apartment in this comfortable country while my people suffer. I cannot*****"What I am saying, Amir," Mahmoud said, "Is that there is nopossible way that I can explain you going to kill our cousins. Thereare no words that will make my family feel better. They will ALL say,'We knew this day would come. We knew that your son would murderour own people. You should be ashamed of yourself.'"*****"Look at it this way, Baba," Amir said, still using the termfor "Daddy" to show that he was not responding emotionally toMahmoud's inflammatory language. "Think of these Syrian militiasas a virus of radical Islam, which I know you don't believe in. If thisvirus is allowed to continue unchecked, it could infect the entireMiddle East, including Egypt. And then?"*****I am not going to kill muslims I am going to defend my country,,*****
Family harmony reigned in Brooklyn among Amir, his wife, Amanda, and her parents, Mahmoud and Michelle, despite their different religious upbringings. All of that changed when Amir was called back to his homeland of Israel to help secure a warehouse full of chemical weapons held by a Syrian militia that threatened to wreak havoc on the Holy Land. Suddenly, Mahmoud could no longer talk to Amir without having a panic attack, Amanda's extended family bitterly criticized her choice of mate, and Amanda herself wondered if she could stay in a marriage with a man that was ready and willing to defend his country at any time. Would Amir live to reconcile the ruptures in his family or die valiantly on the battlefield? Could Mahmoud have a change of heart and grow out of his racist attitudes towards Israelis? Is it even possible for Jews, Muslims, and Christians to share our planet in peace? Bridge of Comprehension touches on issues raised every day in our news headlines and our own homes, exploring how religious, cultural, and personal divisions can be overcome by mutual understanding and tolerance. Follow this intriguing novel from the New York City basement where jihadists plan bomb attacks to the corner of Syria where chemical warfare threatens to erupt and find out how peace could possibly break out in our world.*****Stay social with albertFacebook:facebook.com/mor.all2Email Albert:almor1536@gmail.com

From the Author:

I started writing my first book "Bridge of Comprehension" five years ago. Knowing that if I could save one life or change the way people think by having them read my book, it would make all the difference.I am not naive.  I know there will always be killing, but we need to make sure we can minimize the bloodshed by writing about and spreading peace and understanding and giving one another respect and the space to live freely. In the past we have had horrible wars like World War 2 that claimed 60 million lives.  After World War 2 no one believed peace could be reached, but yes, it came and all those countries who were once at war now live in peace. My second book "United in Peril", which is confronts similar ideas ,,,,My third book  "Abyss of Love" takes the reader on a roller coaster ride of emotions,

From the Inside Flap:

"However, my dear, life must, it absolutely must, go on. Amandahad nothing to do with those conflicts in Egypt and neither didAmir."Honey, in some ways we must forget the past. The future isbright for our family. Your daughter is in love, and she has chosenwell. You should be super proud of her."Michelle readied for her conclusion, which would have plentyof dramatic impact."Love, honey. Love is the answer for all of the hate between peoples.Your daughter and Amir can be a small part of that. It's time tobuild bridges and love each other, not build walls and stay separate. This is the person that has come into Amanda's life."Michelle reached over to turn out the light on the bedside table."Love. Love," she said, using the word as both a subject and a verb."Love," she whispered as the two dozed into sleep.*****"I will NOT sit around and watch my people choking to death, crying to death, suffocating and breaking out into hives because of a Syrian projectile. I will NOT sit in the comfort of this apartment in this comfortable country while my people suffer. I cannot."
Amir has a big decision to make. He's a loving husband and father with a successful real estate career in Brooklyn. He is also a highly trained officer, a chemical warfare specialist, in the Israeli reserves.
When Amir gets called back to his homeland to help secure a warehouse full of chemical weapons held by a Syrian militia threatening to wreak havoc on the Holy Land his wife, a Christian, questions their relationship.  Amanda's extended family bitterly criticizes her choice of mate. Can Amir reconcile the ruptures in his family or will he die on the battlefield?
Is it even possible for Jews, Muslims, and Christians to share our planet in peace?
Bridge of Comprehension touches on issues raised every day in our news headlines and in our homes. It explores if religious, cultural, and personal divisions can be overcome by understanding and tolerance. *****This novel moves from a New York City basement, where jihadists plan bomb attacks, to a corner of Syria where chemical warfare threatens to erupt. It is not to be missed by anyone with an interest in where our world is heading.
