Synopsis

Her name says it all- a dog that has simply given Hope where humans have failed. Hope was a dog bought with a purpose- to help those with a neurological condition. When her owners other dog, Flo, was diagnosed with a brain condition herself, Hope was brought in to take her place. From the first moment she could, she worked alongside her owner at Headway Suffolk and has been the face of their Brainy Dog Scheme: a scheme that aims to help prisoners train rescue dogs as companions with a neurological condition. In this heart warming tale of her life so far, follow Hope as she describes events through her own eyes. From the young puppy that was so out of proportion that she was branded ‘the dog that was good for nothing’, to the dog that proved she had much more to offer than anyone could ever have expected. Meet the clients she has worked with, the dogs that she has helped; and come to realize how a dogs work is never done. A true mix of work and home life come together to portray a fictional dogs perspective on a very real scheme.

About the Author

Sophie is the Brainy Dog co-ordinator, a charitable scheme run by headway Suffolk. It was her work on this scheme that inspired her to write this book as a unique way to raise money for the scheme to continue. She has been on the scheme for 7 years and before that worked as a HCA on a dementia ward. The experience she has gained over the years provided her with the material for the book. Her love for animals started at a young age and has blossomed ever since. She now owns 3 dogs, 1 cat and 2 horses. Her time is spent either at work, up the yard, walking the dogs, or thinking of new ways in which to develop the Brainy Dog Scheme. Being an author was never on her list of things to do but became a surprising twist in her attempts to fundraise for the scheme. She hopes that this book will raise the necessary funds and awareness for Brainy Dogs to continue to grow and who knows, maybe another edition will be written at some point in the future!!
