Narrated by Scooter the Loquatian, "Wings to Fly" is about a loquacious owl that has long floppy ears, is red, yellow, orange, and pink, and lives in the Loquat tree. "My name is Scooter because that is how I get by. I scoot from limb to limb because I can't fly." The process of believing, trusting, imagining, and giving to oneself and others eventually enabled Scooter to fly. Imagined by Jennifer (Jen) Utsch, aka Jendala, Scooter was inspired by a dream in 2008, where dialogue with the Loquatian began. Illustrated by Tara Seren, each page reaches into Scooter's lucid, bright, and playful world. After years of meeting the characters, real and imagined, and learning their stories, Jendala's creations are ripe to share. The platform for sharing is the Land of Jendala, where children will learn the most important belief of all... to trust yourself. This is a land where everything is possible, the vision leads the way, and virtues are your strengths. By supporting "Wings to Fly," you will be helping build the Land of Jendala, a forming program giving children access to their self-worth.Any funds raised over the cost of the books will go to creating the 501c3 nonprofit and developing programs. Follow the adventures on Scooter's Facebook page and at www.scootertheloquatian.comImagined and created by artisan Jen Utsch (aka Jendala), Jendala Productions resulted from the insatiable quest to follow her passions. Jen has always had a yearning to learn about other ways of life and perceptions, which led her to study Spanish and International Relations in college. After college, she became a Sheriff’s Deputy, taught Spanish for law enforcement, and then became a firefighter because she wanted to serve the community. The beauty and remarkable power of fire sparked her passion, which led to creating metal art utilizing an oxy-acetylene torch.Jendala is committed to creating wellbeing through sparking the imagination and encouraging self-exploration and self-worth, while bridging diversity and aligning to our own purpose. When she established Jendala Productions in 1998, she followed a creative process of mistakes and successes to form the products to support this mission. Forming post-consumer "tin" cans into patio lights and candleholders lit the way to craft inspirational messages from recycled sheet metal. Twenty years later, Jendala celebrates a sustainable, uplifting, and quality art that brings a smile and story to the space it adorns. All beads and bells are selected from an ethical and family run sustainable cooperative in India. Customers play with their imaginations and select from over 300 words and 100 Jendala images to make their own unique messages meaningful. By the way, "Wings to Fly" is written in Jendala's fire torched font, with each letter having been melted into the recycled metal. Now, at a 20 year milestone of sending positive metal messages out into the world, Jendala is excited to devote her time to the wellbeing of children. The fun of connecting all the characters in Jendala's product-line to their stories in the Land of Jendala is just beginning. Kids will get to meet Sadie the Bee, Jorge the Buffalo, Soleil the Butterfly, Bodhi the Giraffe, Quigley the Penguin, Gregorio the Ant, and Scooter the Loquatian. Jendala's youthful and vibrant imagination is carving its way from torching to storytelling. The foundation has been poured for the home of Jendala, nestled in the wondrous and exciting Land of Jendala. Stay tuned for so much more to come! The Land of Jendala is a program to support children in discovering their self-worth by inspiring the creative process thru play, imagination, feeling, and connection. The Land of Jendala provides a safe and inspiring space encouraging authenticity thru the arts.
