9781760301866: Dark Child (Bloodsworn): Omnibus Edition

It's open war between the Families of Power and the Tabérin. Two ancient races, witch and vampire, are locked in a deadly battle, and Kat Chanter, descendant of both warring bloodlines, is the only hope for peace ...

With the fate of two races resting on her shoulders, Kat is determined to make the best of her forced visit to her grandmother Imara's Napa compound, and learn all she can about the Families of Power and her newly discovered witch heritage. But she quickly learns that Imara's word can't be trusted. Prejudice runs deep in the old coven leader, and her grandmother remains committed to a war with the Tabérin that Kat would do anything to stop.

But Imara's war isn't the only threat to the fragile balance between the races that has endured for centuries. Fanatical factions within the European covens plot to resurrect an ancient power best left sleeping, and the new Vodas is building his dynasty on the backs of a personal guard willing to fight to the death to give him what he wants.

With the unsolved murder of a young witch boy raising as many questions as answers, Kat is discovering blood is the key to everything, including the new Vodas's subjection of his sworn elite.

In this world, blood is power. But blood can betray you.

An urban fantasy full of vampires, werewolves and shapeshifters, which is perfect for fans of Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments and Julie Kagawa's Blood of Eden series.

This is a full length novel. Dark Child (Bloodsworn): Omnibus Edition bundles together Dark Child (Bloodsworn) Episodes 1-5.

From the Author:

Dark Child started with me writing a single scene, back in 2009. I'd been playing around with a few ideas, and this one caught my imagination. My first scene was about a human girl - an unusual human girl, who moved into an apartment building with a secret. An apartment building warded with magical runes, so she shouldn't have been able to see it, let alone walk through the front door. I added a couple more scenes, and sent them all off to my sister for comment.

Armed with her cautiously positive feedback, I put aside the few scenes I'd written, and let them percolate away in the back of my mind for a few months. Then I started to write again. I filled in what had come before that first scene I wrote. What had brought my heroine to this apartment building? Who was she? And I wrote about what happened next. The story of a unique young woman caught out in the wrong place, at very much the wrong time.

Write what you know, I remembered hearing. Write what you like to read. I've always loved reading paranormal, and without quite realizing it, I've watched pretty much every vampire movie and TV series made in the last twenty years. When I finally finished writing Dark Child, the book was a crazy mish mash of genres - closer to urban fantasy than anything else, but not quite fitting the mold. It had romance, and touches of epic fantasy, and suspense. It wasn't YA, but it wasn't purely adult either. It was a combination of all the elements I loved, in a somewhat unholy alliance. It was the product of letting inspiration run free, and I ended up with something that I'd poured my heart into. Something that I loved. Being able to share that with you is a dream come true.

I always intended Dark Child as the beginning of a series. So for those wanting to know, I can confirm that yes, a sequel is well underway!

Review:

". . . a well-paced, cleanly written paranormal/fantasy with all sorts of "other-worldly" goodness. The legends and lore of Dark Child were intricate and creative, and I like how details are revealed over time, rather than in large info-dumps. Please, let there be a second book!" Karen Fowler - Amazon

"This is an intriguing story which gripped me from the start. . . The blend of supernatural vampire-like monsters, ancient magic, suspense and romance makes this an ideal read for fans of the paranormal and anyone looking for a new take on magic and the vampire legend. Emma Adams - Goodreads
