A former farmworker, busker, student of religions (at Lancaster and Oxford) and primary schoolteacher, Dheeresh Turnbull has been working in mental health since 1990, qualifying in Oxford as a cognitive therapist in 1998 and becoming BABCP accredited in 2000. He has been a student of meditation since the 1970s, and was ordained as a Zen monk by Genpo Roshi in January 2010. Dheeresh recently completed a shamanic training (the Medicine Wheel) with the Shuh Shuh Guh. He lives in Hove with his wife Lin, younger daughter Gaia and their cat Tulip. He works as a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist in private practice, runs meditation and chi gong classes and is an Associate Therapist with Aurora CBT. He still plays the blues sometimes.
