The text draws on many letters and other documents, again previously unpublished, and is the most comprehensive account of Ravilious's career ever published. It also attempts to position Ravilious in relation to English art of his time, and more recent critical and cultural issues.

About the Author
Dr. Alan Powers writes and lectures on twentieth-century art, architecture, and design. He has been a guest curator at Kettles Yard and the Design Museum, and is a Professor in Architecture and Cultural History at the University of Greenwich in East London. He is also a watercolor painter and a printmaker. Dr. Powers was awarded an Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) in 2008.
