Thomas Hoadley apprenticed with Vermont potter Malcolm Wright, who brought Japanese Karatsu-style wood-fired pottery techniques to the United States. Hoadley later established a pottery studio in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts. He holds a Special Judge's Award from the 2011 International Ceramics Festival Mino, Japan; his work was featured at the White House in Washington D.C. and is included in the collections of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts among many others.
