Those four lads from Liverpool who conquered the world in the 1960s and have been unsurpassed in the music world ever since. But did you know that there were many moments in their history where things could have worked out very differently?
This book, for the first time, examines 70 key moments throughout their history where a change in circumstances could have made all of the difference to the story of the greatest group in pop history.
What if John and Paul never met? What if the Beatles didn't go to Hamburg? What if they never met Brian Epstein? What if they successfully passed their audience for Decca Records and never worked with George Martin? What if they hadn't taken drugs? What if Brian Epstein hadn't died?
These are just some of the major turning points in the Beatles story where things could have made a huge difference, a little difference, or no difference at all!

About the Authors
David Bedford is a Beatles author/ historian/ podcaster/ tour guide/ filmmaker who grew up in The Dingle, Liverpool, and for the last 35 years has lived in Penny Lane.He started to write for the British Beatles Fan Club magazine in 2000. His first book, published in 2009, it is now in its Third Edition: Liddypool: Birthplace of The Beatles, the definitive book on The Beatles and Liverpool. This has established him as one of the leading authorities on the early history of The Beatles. His second book, The Fab one hundred and Four: The Evolution of The Beatles, was published in 2013. In 2016, he was a co-author with the only official Beatles biographer Hunter Davies on The Beatles Book, with Keith Badman and Spencer Leigh. Published in 2018, his fourth book was Finding the Fourth Beatle, the story of the 23 drummers in The Beatles. He even self-published a part fact, part fiction, detective novel called "Inspector Rocke: That'll Be The Day That I Die" set in Liverpool in 1960, featuring The Beatles. It is the first in a series.Published in 2020 was The Country of Liverpool: Nashville of the North, and in 2021, ACC published The Beatles Fab Four Cities, co-written with Beatles tour guides Richard Porter and Susan Ryan.He was the Associate Producer and historical consultant for the documentary film "Looking For Lennon" (2018), which has sold in 26 countries. He was also the Archive Producer for the documentary film about The Beatles in Hamburg, called "No Hamburg, No Beatles" (2024)Bedford has a YouTube channel called Brightmoon Liverpool, for which he has helped make over 100 short films and interviews about The Beatles, with over 2 million views. As a partner in Brightmoon Media, he is currently working as Producer/ Associate Producer on several film projects.Bedford is currently consulting historian on two British television documentaries on the black history of Liverpool, The Beatles and Merseybeat in the post-war years, which includes the story of Harold "Lord Woodbine" Phillips, as one of the few authors to have covered this topic. He is the consulting historian on a TV series in the US connected to the early history of John Lennon and his family.
was born in Southampton in 1954, and so I was there when the rise of pop music was taking place in the 1960's, led by The Beatles. I have been a life-long Beatles fan since January 1963, and an avid collector of Beatles memorabilia. I developed a soft spot for The Applejacks in 1964, and since the late 1990's I have also been collecting Applejacks memorabilia. I am also generally interested in many genres of music, and this has resulted in the culmination of a large record/CD collection. My working life was technically based. I attended Sheffield University, graduating with an honours degree in Physics in 1975, and then I obtained a Ph.D in High Energy Physics. I had 40 years in industry, as a nuclear safety consultant, before retiring in 2019. I am now enjoying doing the things that my hectic working life didn't always give enough time for. The writing of this book, telling the story of The Applejacks, fulfils one of my retirement ambitions.I live in Sutton, Surrey with my fiancée Xuejun (Luoluo).
