In language of great strength, simplicity, and beauty, poet R. S. Thomas explores his often-prophetic themes: technology and our use of it to destroy nature and rural life; the search for self and for meaning; and the quest for and dialogue with God. Originally published to mark the author's 80th birthday, it confirms him as a pre-eminent poet. "Read these poems."--Stephen Spender. "This is a book I've been waiting for."--Ted Hughes.
