Founded in 1972, Euromonitor is a leading international publisher of marketing information. This new collection of statistical data, presented in tables, features detailed statistics on the lifestyles of consumers in 71 countries. Consumers are grouped by their income; household profiles; eating, drinking, and smoking habits; home ownership; and education. The three main sections are "Rankings," "Cross-Country Comparisons," and "Country Data." The comparative world rankings and cross-country sections present standardized data for all 71 countries, and the country-specific section covers the data in greater detail. Coverage is generally for 1990 to 2000, and tables often display the full 11-year time-series to enable the monitoring of trends.
Section 1 contains maps of the countries arranged by region: Europe, Americas, Asia and Australasia, and the Middle East and Africa. Section 2 is a series of unique rankings showing the position of each country as measured by a variety of criteria. The cross-country data in the third section provide a standardized, comparable overview of lifestyle data for all countries. Units are in terms of percentages, U.S. dollars, and per capita figures for easy comparisons. Section 4, the country-specific data, is a detailed analysis of consumer lifestyles for each country. The last section is a list of sources for the marketing information with current contact details and a brief description of data available from these organizations. Examples of the sectors covered in both the cross-country and country-specific sections include home ownership, savings and investment, eating habits, leisure habits, personal care and clothing, transport, tourism, and crime.
Focusing on people rather than products, this reliable, quick reference is updated by a team of researchers with extensive country-specific knowledge. Business collections serving students, corporations, researchers, and small to medium-sized businesses will see this data book used frequently. RBB
