9781844094653: The Inner Camino: A Path of Awakening

Are you looking to make real and lasting change in your life? The Inner Camino offers a reliable method to support such change effortlessly, even when we feel imprisoned in situations that appear intransigent or hopeless.

With easy to follow maps and a compass to re-orientate the reader in the direction of their true purpose in life the Inner Camino guides the reader on an inner pilgrimage. Along the path the reader learns to dream into hitherto undreamt visions for our world and ourselves. This guidebook is practical, unsentimental and packed with immediately applicable insights towards clearly identified and easily accessible goals.

The Inner Camino takes the reader on a heroic journey of awakening within. It initiates an extraordinary expedition, both deep into our own psychology, and to the heights of our numinous potential, our mystical capacities. Between these two differing terrains, the Inner Camino follows the way-marks through our most creative source of wisdom, our Intuitive Consciousness.

Review:

"Some books one devours. Others one savors. A few - a very few - one treasures and returns to again and again for their deep enduring wisdom. This is just such a book. Whether you intend to walk the Camino or not the insights of these two authors - both of whom know the Camino, the ways of the heart, and the spiritual dimensions of Psychology - will move you to deeper understanding. If you read just one book this year about personal discovery, let this be the one. All spiritual pilgrims have found themselves asking questions about their experiences as they journey through life. Often these experiences are hard to comprehend, and it's even harder to formulate questions about them. What just happened to me? We may ask, and what does it mean? And what can I expect next? Until now such questions have been left largely unanswered by the majority of writers, leaving readers feeling alone and disappointed. This books fills that gaping hole. It describes just what is happening, and how it feels, when we move from the ego-dominated realm of living and transition into the spiritual realm. When we see that our personal experiences are profoundly individual, but also can be compared to a larger overall pattern, then we can feel the full value of what we are living through. With this guide you can never feel alone, and you cannot miss you way."--Allan Hunter, author of Spiritual Hunger and the Path of Synchronicity

Pilgrimage is a wonderful allegory for our journey through life. Here is an excellent book about just that. Based by authors Sara Hollwey and Jill Brierley on a well-known route known as El Camino de Santiago, this is their map and compass to guide you along your personal and individual pilgrimage through life. All you need is a goal and this book will guide you there. Even more it will bring you into communion with your own inner guide.--Bill Anderton"Pilgrims" (06/16/2014)

Based on the concept of walking the famed Camino de Santiago, the Inner Camino by Sara Hollwey and Jill Brierley, offers a specific pathway to self-discovery. Blending the world of spirit or what the authors call Intuitive Consciousness, with our own human psychology, each chapter offers specific steps to take in order to blend these two worlds. There's a lot of depth to the book and it is one you would work with over a period of time in order to embody the teachings and the work being done.--Krysta Gibson"New Spirit Journal" (10/07/2014)

Based on their clinical practices and extensive training in various mind-body disciplines, Sara Hollwey and Jill Brierley have written an excellent guide to taking an internal pilgrimage similar to the traditional spiritual pilgrimage to the city of Camino de Santiago. The reader who commits to this spiritual, inward journey toward inner wisdom can experience transformation and freedom from old patterns. The Inner Camino sheds light on how to live free of the biases of ego, the aspect of the self that is mostly concerned with everyday matters. The goal is to operate from inner wisdom, which is a sense of oneness with all that exists and a knowing that transcends the wisdom of the mind. Hollwey and Brierley acknowledge the difficulties in maintaining a bias-free perspective as one attempts to walk along an inner path. However, their suggestions and perspectives can aid us to become more accepting and effective in dealing with ourselves and others. The exercises, presented in a well thought out and practical way, allow readers to develop their intuitive awareness and reframe their everyday challenges. This reframing makes it easier for anyone to make choices that serve themselves and Spirit. By tapping into the intuitive consciousness, it's possible to detach from an identification with the ordinary world and gain a perspective based in the awareness of one's spiritual connection to everything in existence. I would say that in Jungian terms, we learn to relate to life more from the viewpoint of the self and less from that of the ego. As a shamanic practitioner, I recognize in The Inner Camino a shamanic-like perspective. We are always interconnected with the whole, and it's important to address concerns and problems from their origins upstream in the world of Spirit and oneness. I highly recommend this book to all who want to break free of the stories that trap them in the values and priorities of this world rather than their own inner spirit, affecting their decision making in ways that do not serve their best interests. The Inner Camino is for those who have forgotten their inner knowing but also those who aspire to deepen their inner journey. Its real-life examples illustrate how connecting to transpersonal realms can make our everyday experiences richer and more satisfying. Rich with wisdom, this guide to consciously weaving together both inner and outer journeys is elegantly written and eminently practical.--Carl Greer, author of Change Your Story - Change Your Life

The Inner Camino takes you on a journey of your intuitive consciousness helping you to see what it is that you truly want to do and are meant to do. It can awaken or re-ignite passions you never knew you had, or perhaps forgot you had. Only read it if you are serious about finding this for yourself. This is a practical guidebook with easy resources to help guide you along your path to figuring out your purpose and reach your goals. It isn't going to lead you on the wrong path because you know what you are meant to do deep down, but sometimes we are too afraid of it and push it really far down, and it takes a bit of a push (like with this book) to discover it again. I especially liked the section on "Chatter or Guidance" because sometimes that inner dialogue we have within ourselves isn't always so positive, but this section helped me to push aside those negative thoughts and focus on the actual guidance. Overall, I think that this is an excellent guide for anyone that wants to go on the path of awakening. I highly recommend it.--Sheri Newton "Sheri's World "
