Charles McCormac was born in England and educated in Australia before joining the RAF at the age of 18. He fought in WWII, was captured and imprisoned in Singapore and was one of only two men to survive a dramatic five-month great escape. Upon returning to Britain, he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. He passed away in 1985 at the age of 70.
