A unique color-mixing wheel on the front cover demonstrates how to combine different shades of acrylic paint to achieve specific tints in this interactive art-instruction manual. The basic principles of color mixing and application are covered and the equipment and materials needed to get started are described. This guide also contains eight step-by-step projects featuring some of the most rewarding acrylic techniques such as building up color, glazing, painting alla prima, painting with a palette knife, and using tone. From landscapes and still lifes to people and the natural world, a spin of the color wheel on the front of this innovative book produces immediately visible results that clearly show how to produce quality acrylic art.

John Barber is a professional artist and designer and the author of Complete Colour Mixing Guide, Winsor & Newton Colour Mixing Guide: Acrylics, and Winsor & Newton Colour Mixing Guide: Oils.Review:
April 09 This is the sister volume to the previous one on watercolour and, if it follows the success of that, it's a fair bet we'll be raising quite a family. Most of what I said previously applies here. It's a gimmick, but sometimes gimmicks make you sit up and suddenly understand what has previously been a problem subject. I still think that the illustrations are a bit flat, even though the trick paper has gone. Nevertheless, there's a good variety of subject matter and the medium is used in both impasto and as a wash, so you get to see most of the techniques you'll want. Artbookreview.net
