He is "the author of" Draw Sci Fi."
Nov 09 Gothic has never been more fashionable, with paranormal romances proliferating on the bookshelves and on our screens. If you are a fan of this type of thing and enjoy art you are going to like this a lot more than all those books on landscapes and flowers... This book gets you into the mood for drawing gothic as well as giving you plenty of tips on how and what; a touch I liked. Working with black - both with your chosen way of making a mark and what you are putting it on - is practically the first topic, and comes with a reminder of why black is the color for this type of thing. Also touched on are the usual themes of perspective, shading, what you need to buy etc and all these are of course slanted towards making everything look as gothic as possible. Getting the look right with eye makeup, symbols, facial expressions, poses and of course drawing bones are some of the topics and there are some staged projects to work through. These are not in as many stages as many other Search Press books but I don't see this as being a book for the total beginner, and nowhere does this word appear. I particularly liked the sections on using photographs and grids, showing that there is more to art these days than putting pen or brush to paper. Also available and companion to this title is Draw Sci Fi. Put them together and you have everything you need to depict steampunk! * Myshelf.com *
