Jane Durbridge is one of London's most sought after florists, with a unique sense of style and a distinctively elegant yet refreshingly modern look. Jane started Parterre Flowers, based in central London, in 1989. She now creates foral decorations for weddings and other celebrations. Jane divides her time between Paris and London. Her first book "Bridal Bouquets" is also published by Ryland Peters & Small.
Antonia Swinson is an expert on flowers, fashion, beauty, and weddings. She began her writing career at "Vogue" and for three years she was Assistant Features Editor of Conde Nast's "Brides and Setting Up Home". She is the author of "The Wedding Planner" and "When I Was A Flower Girl", and wrote the text for Jane Durbridge's "Bridal Bouquets", all for Ryland Peters & Small.
If you want to avoid the rules and rigidness of formal floristry, Jane Durbridge will show you how in this beautifully illustrated book, the sumptuous cover being a taster for what is to come. Accompanied by style writer Antonia Swinson and photographer Polly Wreford, she offers simple, inspirational ideas for simple containers, using simple, easily available flowers and foliage. A stem of cherry blossom cut from the garden, a single rose, a bunch of tulips or ranunculus, miraculously transformed into artfully simple, chic arrangements. Using vases and bowls as plain as old bottles or as elegant as a crystal vase, she demonstrates the ease with which you can transform a room or dinner setting. Utilising materials as diverse as cellophane and translucent gel, she shares her innovative, often quirky, designs and knowledge to make truly "Simple Chic Flowers" with which to adorn your home. - Lucy Watson
