"This whimsical tale of the birth of the seasons is a great read-aloud. It is full of expressive language and the good versus evil that young children love to hear.... The magic rays of sunshine weave in and out of the earth, water, and air into a beautiful rainbow that melts the king's heart. The agreement reached between the two monarchs creates the change of seasons. This story is one of many that provide an explanation of natural phenomena, but none as delightfully as this title. The illustrations, done in acrylics, portray the disparity between the warmth and the dark icy cold. Highly Recommended." --Library Media Connection
