A trio of children embark on a day long trek through the rainforest, discovering all sorts of exotic creatures in their natural habitats. The charming, rhyming text highlights a verb for each creature, from chattering monkeys to crouching jaguars. The story is complemented by nine pages of educational endnotes, including information about the Amazon, the creatures featured in the story, the peoples of the rainforest, and a full-page, full-colour map of South America. This title uses simple, patterned language to introduce children to the Amazon. It joins Laurie Krebs' bestselling series of travel books, which also includes "We All Went on Safari", "Off We Go to Mexico", "We're Sailing to Galapagos" and "We're Sailing Down the Nile" (HB: 9781846860393; PB: 9781846861932).

Laurie Krebs, a seasoned traveller and former teacher, visited the Amazon rainforest to research this project. A mother of four grown children and five grandchildren, she seeks to expose all children to a variety of different cultures and environments through her writing. This book is based on Laurie's travels down the Amazon River in 2008 with a Ribereno guide. Anne Wilson gains much of her inspiration and sense of colour from her travels. She has an MA in Illustration from St. Martin's College of Art, London, and has been illustrating children's books for several years. Anne is also the illustrator of Storytime (HB + CD: ISBN TBC; PB + CD: 9781846861000; PB: 9781846861642), The Great Race (HB: 9781905236763; PB: 9781846860775), We're Sailing Down the Nile (HB: 9781846860393; PB: 9781846861932) and The Barefoot Book of Earth Tales (HB: 9-7818-4686-223-6).
