Dorothy Garlock is the national bestselling and award-winning author of forty-nine romance novels, including A Place Called Rainwater and The Edge of Town.
Actor and voice-over artist Renee Raudman has performed on film, television, radio, and stage. A multiple Audie Award nominee, she has garnered several AudioFile Earphones Awards, a Publishers Weekly Listen-Up Award, and numerous starred reviews.
A cynic might say that what the heroine in this story needs is a good lawyer, not a steamy romance. But lovers of romantic fiction will enjoy this tale of a damsel in distress who is rescued by a brawny lumberjack. The plot is simplistic, but entertaining nonetheless. Characters include some well-conceived Cajun characters whose unique personalities are expertly portrayed by Renée Raudman. (My favorite is the slovenly psychopathic housekeeper.) In addition to passionate exchanges, exciting action scenes are depicted, including a knife fight on a staircase. As Raudman's narration builds the suspense, listeners who join in the spirit will be engaged. D.L.G. © AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine-- Copyright © AudioFile, Portland, Maine
