Delia has just witnessed her mother's bestial rape and murder at the hands of her father. Desperate to distract him from his brutality, she hits him with an axe, accidentally slicing his jugular, and leaves his body to a pack of wild dogs. She buries her mother in a family grave that already holds her sister and two younger brothers, victims of the Great Famine that ravaged Ireland from 1845-1848. Haunted by nightmarish images, she endures much suffering and hardship as she struggles to overcome the threat of starvation. She is taken in by a member of the Irish aristocracy and forms a close bond with the only child of Lord and Lady Keenagh. However, Delia is left devastated when the 'strangling angel' claims the little girl. Given the means to begin a new life in America by His Lordship in appreciation for her loyalty, Delia leaves Ireland forever. When she is robbed en route to New York, a sailor comes to her aid and they end up marrying. Everything is fine, until her husband's touch inadvertently triggers a long-suppressed nightmare and she flees from him in hysteria. Can Delia ever be at peace; will she ever be totally free of her father's evil touch? When tragedy continues to haunt her and her loved ones, she is left to wonder if it is her father taking revenge - and if he will ever be satisfied. The Strangling Angel, a work of adult historical fiction, is inspired by Diana Gabaldon, Edna O'Brien, Catherine Cookson and Maeve Binchy.

From the Author:
'Mans' inhumanity to Man makes countless thousands mourn.'   Robbie Burns.

Working on this book was one of the most emotional experiences of my life. I felt possessed by the characters from the early stages and I believe it's the main reason Delia and her family are so believable and incredibly human, and why they touch the hearts of the readers, both male and female.

Time after time, I hear the same praise,  'I felt as though I'd known these people all my life', and I feel no shame in admitting I cried when I came to the end of The Strangling Angel. The characters and I had been through so much together and together we had triumphed. The realization was glorious.

It was a foregone conclusion there would have to be more. So, for all the loyal people who supported Book 1, the sequel is almost finished and should be out very soon.
I humbly thank you, and those countless victims who can no longer speak for themselves, they also thank you, for bringing into the light one of recent history's most tragic episodes, The Great Irish Famine.

At the time, the Great Hunger was referred to as a 'holocaust', and it surely qualifies as one of modern mans' worst travesties and a most blatant example of Mans' Inhumanity to Man.'
