About the Author

Dr Sam Willis is a maritime historian, archaeologist and broadcaster. He is the author of a number of books on maritime and naval history, and has appeared in and presented numerous TV series. He is a Visiting Fellow in Maritime and Naval History at the University of Plymouth, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.
