Tom is a typical 21st century teenager. Bored to tears by the lack of stimulus in his life, he entertains himself by committing petty and mischievous crimes. From a poor, single parent family, he feels that life is deliberately treating him unfairly by denying him access to the same designer gear as his friends. When he is finally excluded from school, his mother insists that he stay with his grandmother in the tiny village of Saxonflete where opportunities for mischief are few. A ruined medieval castle looms over the village and it is while Tom is exploring these ruins that he finds an old chain with a large red stone suspended from it. He knows nothing of its significance until he is thrown violently back into the year 1193, where a series of dangerous and exciting adventures change his whole attitude to life forever. A truly exciting story and a very good read.

C A Montgomery was born and raised in Essex with three sisters. She had a conventional family upbringing on a council estate near Grays. She attended Aveley Technical School where a teacher, Mr Wood, demonstrated that history is as exciting as any novel and that some events would be laughed off as unbelievable in a book. Persuaded by her parents that a nice clean office job was the way to go, she worked in a series of dull jobs before trying out a series of pub, shop and cleaning jobs. All were vastly more interesting than office work, where petty tyrannies blighted the work life of the plebs . Tom Tullet finally made his way into print after developing slowly from a soup of ideas in the author s mind over many years. Retirement was the catalyst that finally brought Tom to life.
