About the Author

Scilla Elsworthy PhD is Director of the Oxford Research Group, which she founded in 1982 to find out how and by whom nuclear weapons decisions are made, worldwide. She travels all over the world introducing those who work on nuclear weapons to their critics. As consultant to UNESCO she produced their report on Women in Copenhagan in 1980. Before that she managed a self-help organization in Africa, moving agricultural supluses to areas of starvation. She has a doctorate in political science, lectures in Europe, the United States, Russia, China and Japan, and appears widely on radio and television.
