The papers in this book deal with continuums of unknown shape or interphase boundary position. This type of problem, encountered extensively in nature as well as in technology, can be accurately solved only in a few special cases. Therefore, a new scientific discipline of discrete approximate solutions to such problems has evolved. This book aims to reflect the current state of the art in this subject. This book consists of the majority of papers presented at the Third International Conference on Computational Modelling of Free and Moving Boundary Problems, held in June 1995.
Although the modelled phenomena differ considerably, several common computational features can be identified. On the other hand, similar problems are often solved by different numerical methods.
