Synopsis
The fascinating history of Renaissance warfare is explored by Stephen Turnbull in his new book. A period of transition and innovation, the Renaissance saw many forms of change, not least in the morality and efficiency of warfare. The medieval knight moved and developed with the times - armour became less cumbersome, and military skills more honed. The reader can observe the evolution of the knight from his days as the embodiment of chivalry in the Middle-Ages, to the advent of gunpowder, and his altogether more ruthless and efficient incarnation, all via intriguing accounts of over two centuries' warfare.

About the Author
STEPHEN TURNBULL is an Honorary Research Fellow at Leeds University and the author of more than fifty books on the military history of Europe and the Far East. He lives in Horsforth, Yorkshire.
