9781854597298: Scenes from the Big Picture

The play takes place over the course of a hot summer’s day in an imagined area of present-day Belfast. We see a day in the life of over twenty inhabitants of the district as their stories interweave and collide. In a tour de force of dramatic writing, a whole world is evoked in a couple of hours.

About the Author:

Owen McCafferty was born in Northern Ireland in 1961, and lives in Belfast with his wife and three children. He was writer on attachment to the National Theatre Studio in 1999. His most recent work includes Mojo Mickybo (Kabosh, Belfast), Closing Time (accounted the best of the new plays presented in the 'Loft' season at the National Theatre, London) and Shoot the Crow (premiered at the Royal Exchange, Manchester in February 2003), all published by NHB.

Review:

'It may be closing time in the province, but the existence of a writer as good as McCafferty induces a perverse, paradoxical hope' Guardian
