Art historian Bernard Denvir provides brief descriptions and includes excerpts from van Gogh's personal diaries and correspondence. Also included are a detailed family tree, a biographical index, and a chronology of the artist's life. Paintings of van Gogh by Toulouse-Lautrec, Gauguin, Pissarro, and other contemporaries complement this 144-page volume.
