"Sikaran Shield Lord" is a table of twenty two alien Sikaran mercenaries, who travel across the galaxy to the Naiobi colonies where they encounter the human race for the first time.
The Sikaran mercenaries are expert martial artists who are members of a Sikaran Brotherhood of the Sword, the 'Isithan,' and their combat skills are put to use when they join the Naiobi police force. Often misunderstanding their human counterparts, they become involved in a series of adventures, centering on Marayshan and his friends Nava and Avernyi, who have some very close encounters with the humans, with amusing results.
Equally the human star ship captain, Laurence Grey and his colleagues must adjust and come to terms with their cross-cultural, cross-species prejudices as they become more deeply embroiled with the aliens.
Joanna Ray has created a fantastical new world with vivid and original characters, and while "Sikaran Shield Lord" has its share of humor it is also thought provoking and touches on a broad spectrum of emotional states. Laughter, romance and tears, everything one would expect from a tale of alien and human encounter!
