This revised and expanded edition of New London Architecture, by renowned architecture writer Kenneth Powell, examines more than 100 different projects that are reshaping modern London. Illustrated in full colour throughout are not just the headline-grabbing public works, such as the British Airways London Eye, the new Jubilee line stations, the Millennium Bridge and interventions at many of the national museums, but also a wide variety of smaller-scale projects that together offer a manifesto for radical change. With illustrations, plans and critical texts of the projects that are combining to reinvigorate London's urban landscape, New London Architecture provides a detailed and authoritative portrait - indispensable to professionals and public alike - of a city vibrantly reinventing itself and avid to embrace the best of the new.

Kenneth Powell is a journalist and critic who has written extensively on contemporary architecture. He is Director of the Twentieth Century Society, London.
This glossy, pictorial survey of recent and forthcoming modern architecture in London is organized by building type: social service buildings, entertainment centers, museums, etc. The largest section deals with urban infrastructures such as bridges and subway stations, of which Londoners are especially proud. Powell is an active critic and journalist in London who has published many books on recent English architecture, including major studies of Norman Foster and Richard Rogers, the twin pillars of English design. Unfortunately, Powell's introduction is aimed at a local audience, Londoners in particular, which places it out of the ken of modern American readers. Thus, this is recommended only for architecture libraries. Peter Kaufman, Boston Architectural Ctr.
