The Austin-Healey is one of the iconic British sports cars, and this story begins with the first model unveiled in 1952 and continues through the last car, a 3000 Mk111, rolled off the production line in 1967. By that time, over 73,000 cars had been built, with 75 percent of production exported to the U.S. All variants the four-and six-cylinder Healey 100s and the later 3000 model are covered.

About the Author:

A lifelong sports car enthusiast, Bill Piggott has served as principal registrar of the TR Register and also as archivist. His access to factory records and archives has provided him with a unique opportunity to thoroughly explore Triumph TRs. Bill practiced for many years as a lawyer, but now devotes most of his time to writing about classic cars and steam railways, as well as finding and renovating interesting vehicles. Since buying his first TR in 1970, he has owned examples of virtually every model.

The author's postscript gives away the fact that this is a re-issue of the Haynes Publishing 2002 release. So if, like me you missed getting a copy then, here is an opportunity to correct that. Healey Torque The book is very 'readable', and not too biased towards excessive technical detail.However, I liked the inclusion of various comparisons of price and performance with other sportscars of the time. Warning: Even if you do not own one right now you might very well end up wanting on having read these trusty volumes. Big End/All Torque This lavishly illustrated volume presents a very concise history of all the classic big Austin-Healey models from the initial, 1952 rugged 100 roadster version right through to the final, far more luxurious 3000 Mk.
