About the Author

James Fuller James has been a commercial programmer since the mid eighties, having been exposed to a TI-994a at a young age, by his Texas Instrument parents. He has been a senior developer at a few large software and Internet firms and has been lucky enough to work with some very talented people, as well as having worked with at some point most of the large software blue chip companies.

His previous involvement in XML technologies range from answering XSLT-List questions, assisting in the EXSLT effort, involvement with XSLT UK 2001, and technical reviewing and authoring for WROX books.Harry Fuecks Harry is a technical writer, system engineer, and programmer originally from the United Kingdom. He's been working in corporate IT as a network engineer since 1994, after completing a Bachelors degree in Physics. He first came across PHP in 1999, while building a web-based Intranet to aide system maintenance and documentation. He's since turned this into a full time occupation, taking advantage of PHP and Web Services to provide powerful tools for distributed system and application maintenance.Otherwise he's nervously preparing to be a father.

Ken Egervari Ken is a an entrepreneur, technology enthusiast, philosopher, and author from Windsor, Ontario Canada. He is an expert in developing and delivering advanced technology solutions and has spearheaded many large portal, e-commerce, intranet, and extranet projects throughout his career using PHP, .NET, and Java. now Ken focuses his attention to learning and exercising his beliefs about leadership and philosophy where he hopes he can maximize the potential of others and improve the challenges organizations face with organizational health, commitment, and culture. Ken is also co-author of Professional PHP4 and Professional PHP4 XML from Wrox Press.

Bryan Waters Bryan Waters a freelance software developer specializing in web-based corporate information systems. He uses PHP, ASP, C++, and Java with database servers such as SQL Server, SQL Anywhere, and MySQL to develop distributed, stand-alone, and CD-ROM software for the Medical, Hospitality, and Education industries. He has authored several books on technologies like MFC and OLE 2 and published articles in various trade magazines. He lives and works with his wife, Jann, and his two children, Jarratt and Chloe, in Arizona, U.S.

Daniel Solin Daniel Solin is a technical writer, reviewer, consultant, and programmer, and Linux-enthusiast from Sweden. He has been programming Linux applications and web pages since 1994, and has in this time obtained a broad experience of most technologies used in these areas. When it comes to writing, Daniel has written a book about developing applications using Qt, a C++ GUI library, and he has also been a co-author for several books about Linux. From time to time, he also writes articles about bleeding-edge web development or programming in general. For the last two years, Daniel has been developing various software for one of Europe's largest ISPs.

Jon Stephens Jon Stephens is a technical writer and site developer who's contributed to several Wrox Press offerings as well as a number of volumes in the "Usable Web" series from glasshaus. He has a keen interest in Web standards and Open Source technologies, including PHP, JavaScript/DOM scripting, XML applications and MySQL. Jon has been working professionally with computing technology since 1994 and in Web development since 1996.

Lee Reynolds Lee Reynolds is an accomplished network and systems engineer, with many years of experience under his belt. Although he is certified in MS Technologies and Novell, he firmly believes that the future is in Linux and Open Source software.

He began his programming career in Jr. High School in 1977, working with programmable calculators. His skills include C/C++, Perl, PHP, HTML, XHtml, MySQL, PostgreSQL, and XML. He is currently the Program Manager of Network Engineering and Operations with a company based in his long-time home of Phoenix, AZ.

The last 6 years of his career has been spent in web technologies, as a Linux/windows integration consultant and freelance writer. His most recent article for O'Reilly demonstrates the integration of IPTables firewall rules and PHP scripts to immediately block virus infected clients trying to propagate themselves.
