Voices that Reason is a path-breaking work. The author has charted the thoroughfares that speed the thought of many black South Africans towards specific expectations, grievances and actions. The present work constitutes an important and thought-provoking culmination of a generation's worth of disparate but related revisionist thinking within the social sciences and history of South Africa.

About the Author:

Ari Sitas is a writer and a sociologist; he holds a chair in Industrial Sociology and his work focuses on labour, politics and culture within the parameters of the "new" global economy. He has served as President of the South African Sociological Association and the executive of the International Sociological Association (where he is currently serving as a Vice-President.) He is also a well-recognised creative poet, writer and dramatist.

Review:

'This is an extremely original and fascinating book: one of the rare books which I am confident will have considerable impact on how contemporary identities are conceptualized'.
Pal Ahluwalia, Goldsmith College London.
