Illustrator Lonnie Poco, a Quahada Comanche artist and poet, was raised on a reservation in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he excelled as a flyweight boxer. During his years in Chicago, he served as chairman of the Chicago Indian Artist Guild. He is a professional graphic designer and illustrator of Beside the Wichita (March Abrazo Press). Poco created eight scratchboard drawings especially for this volume of Earth Elegance.About the Author:
Cynthia Gallaher has worked as an environmental activist with Illinois Consumers for Safe Food, Lake Michigan Federation and the Chicago Park District's "Green Team." Her previous books of poetry are Swimmer's Prayer (Missing Spoke Press, Seattle) and Night Ribbons (Polar Bear Press, Chicago). Gallaher was named one of "100 Women Making a Difference" by Today's Chicago Woman magazine.
