This non-fiction book is a compelling look at a real murder in the small town of Scottsburg, Indiana. The book is based on the mother's diaries, newspaper articles, police reports and court documents. There are also photographs. The story was the subject of an article in the October, 2002 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine that focuses on the sister of the victim. (begins p. 242)

Christine, mother of the murder victim, was married at 16 to Gary Righthouse. They had two daughters and lived a quiet life until one dreadfully cold January morning. Although Christine had little writing experience, she began, in her neat, methodical way, to record the events of that horrid day and the days, and weeks and months that followed.
