Synopsis
New Mexico is one of those magical places that draws people and connects them with their souls. This book includes forty of New Mexico's finest contemporary poets from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds who share common concerns--the landscapes of New Mexico, the depth of its people, and the complexity of its history. Each poet is presented by a selection of his or her work, a biography, and a photograph. This book is a collection from New Mexico poets who have lived and worked in New Mexico for a substantial amount of time and whose work reflects their love of this place. It includes such well-known names as Denise Chavez, Margaret Randall, Ana Castillo, Judson Crews, and Jimmy Santiago Baca.

Sharon Niederman is the author of several books and a former arts and entertainment editor for the Santa Fe Reporter. Her articles have appeared in the Boston Globe, New York Times, and Denver Post.
