This appears to be the only major work devoted exclusively to describing the ten parks that range from Cape Cod to Padre Island on the Eastern and Gulf Coasts, plus Point Reyes in California. Most of the seashores are less than 30 years old, and the authors note the Park System's changing philosophy from development to "leave it natural." The 15-20-page sections on each park give its history and formation, directions for access, descriptions of what to do and where to stay, plus addresses for more information.
