This ethnographic work analyzes the role television plays in children's political development. The research was carried out during the historical 1992 elections in Puerto Rico,when for the first time a woman ran for the gubernatorial post. The book provides children's interpretation of the televised political content an the implications that family communication patterns, as well as the sociological and cultural contexts have on their political socialization.

The author is the Associate Professor of Communications in the Escuela de Comunicacion of the Universidad de Puerto Rico at the Rio Piedras Campus. She specializes in political communication,research methods, and cultural studies. From 2001 to 2004 Seijo Maldonado was the Communications Graduate Program Coordinator.
